One of the best experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. We came for a graduation celebration and were greeted with custom menus with the graduate's name. Sabrina brought such a sense of joy and passion to our table, and her recommendations were spot on for every course. The food coming out of the kitchen was easily a bright star in the Reading area, with each dish coming out perfectly. From wiener schnitzel to seared ahi tuna, there was not a disappointing bite throughout the meal. Desserts were a perfect complement to our entrees, and the touch of having the graduate's name written in chocolate was the attention to detail you rarely see these days. It's very easy to see why this restaurant has been around for 98 years, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it around for another 98.

Had a fabulous meal on 2-8-25, & the restaurant was packed! Both our meals were excellent...veal wienerschnitzel; scallops; peanut butter rice; cheeseballs; French onion soup.

One Warm Welcome...not from the area, found this place open on a Monday night. I had no idea of its history or anything about the place. A timeless feel to the interior, warm wood character & 50s charm, I could feel this place had a lot of history but didn't realize a Reading PA celebrated legend. The bartender/owner & my Server we're kind, accommodating and very informative...a slower night. Served up with their menu with a narrative on the history of the establishment "in a nutshell". The menu offered a nice variety from Seafood, Italian, German, Steaks, Burgers and much more. Seems like a Hot Spot with plenty going on, warm vibes, great peeps & good food to serve up for generations to come!

This place was great! My sister and I were visiting for an event at Santander arena, we walked here and it was a great meal. We had the crab dip, cheese balls, and chocolate pretzel dessert! Seriously everything was delicious and the staff was so accommodating and friendly even though they were really busy! A must try!

Came into reading for a show at the arts theater. Parking is available right next door. It was our first time at the peanut bar restaurant and it was very warm and welcoming. We made reservations in advance for 5:30. We arrived and we’re seated promptly. Restaurant has spacious seating for two people up to and including multiple families. Nice drink and food menu. We happen to be there on a jazz night which was very pleasant while we dined. Food and drinks came out quick once we ordered. Crab cake had a wonderful garlic sauce, veggies were crisp and flavorful. Bacon burger was cooked to my liking, with lots of bacon on top. Huge dill pickle came with my meal. The whole place was an absolute gem. Will definitely be coming back!!

Very cool "historic" spot that has surprisingly good food. Yes, there are peanut shells everywhere, and lots of things on the menu that have peanuts or peanut butter in them. I was not expecting "peanut butter rice" to be a thing I'd ever want to eat, but you know what? It was yummy! Dessert was also outstanding, the pretzel ice cream pie thing was so delicious. Service was also great, very attentive and a fun atmosphere. This is the sort of family-owned business that you can't help but want to support.

We visited Reading for the Berks Jazz Fest and came here for dinner before the show. Very cool place, vintage photos of Reading playing on screens threw out the dining area. Old photos on the walls including some Penske racing shots. Good food, good drinks and decent prices. I will definitely return!

from out of town & decided to stop in for a bite. the atmosphere and decor is fantastic! i was greeted promptly by michael and he gave me some recommendations on some food to have. i started with the Caesar salad, you can taste how fresh their croutons are! and for dinner i had a featured dish, chicken pasta with peanut sauce. it was so delicious & a healthy portion so i was able to take some home with me! and after that i had a slice of the chocolate covered pretzel pie. it was divine! everything was amazing for my short visit :) bathrooms were clean, food was yummy & service was fantastic. will definitely stop by again when im back in town!

Excellent short ribs with spaetzle and mushrooms dish! Great easy-going environment, family-friendly, really good menu (lots of choices plus gluten-free available options). Fenced in parking lot behind the restaurant, off of Cherry Street.

I am simply blown away by this establishment!! The food was outstanding, the drinks- outstanding, the service and the owner- also outstanding. It was our first time dining here. I found this restaurant on happy cow. We're in town for work nearby and I always struggle to find good vegan options but this place was beyond delicious for both me and my meat eating husband. He had the wings and the scallops. He was full but kept eating because everything was so delicious. He loved the eggnog delight and the peanut butter cup martini (he's not a drinker and hates the taste of alcohol and was ready for more!!) I had the vanilla and the salted caramel moonshines and both completely blew my mind! The vegan options were plentiful and all sounded amazing. I can't wait to try the peanut butter spaghetti. Tonight I hit the vegan chicken parm and I love love loved it. They had various gluten free options as well. We were too stuffed for dessert but the options sounded wonderful too and included a vegan lemon sorbet! The waitress was attentive and made great recommendations and the owner was so sweet and personable!I will definitely be coming back many many times!
